College Place United Methodist Church

A Merged Congregation: A Place to Be

It has been a year since UNC Greensboro and Greensboro College were forced to radically change their housing and operations because of the novel Corona Virus spread into North Carolina.  Although many students returned home, some remained in the Greensboro area and quickly felt the effects of the shutdown.  As College Place suspended its services and activities for safety, the church showed its incredible support and love for students by opening the entirety of the fellowship hall to Wesley-Luther. That space allowed us to provide safe access to the growing number of students who were going hungry as the distribution of food increased to around 1,000 lbs. per week.  We began producing hot meals twice per week. The clothing pantry was moved downstairs.  In all, we have distributed over 38,000 lbs. of food during the shutdown, along with $22,475 in emergency gift cards.  None of this would be possible without the incredible support of College Place.  Thank you for being a home for students when they need it most.

In Thanks, Andrew Mails
