I googled to find the verse from Psalms about the mountains shaking in the heart of the sea (Psm. 46) – being mindful of the recent earthquake – and found this wonderful word from Isaiah 54:10. I think you might be encouraged by it: For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
It’s a reminder and proclamation of God’s consistency to continue to remind us of love, peace, and compassion for us and for all of creation.
In our current day, with so many challenges facing our lives, we may need to be assured of God’s promise to care for us. This verse is both a comfort for us and a challenge given to us to offer that same love, peace, and compassion (a.k.a. caring) to others around us. Lately, I have leaned more heavily upon the assurance of faith that has brought us this far and I know deep within that God will continue to carry us through whatever our world and life may hurl in our direction. May you feel God’s assurance and presence.
Peace, Pastor Jason
